United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has finally hinted on Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s crucial role in Kenya Kwanza if he sought to back Deputy President William Ruto’s presidency.
Speaking on Tuesday, 17th May, during an exclusive interview at Citizen TV, UDA secretary general Veronica Maina revealed that Kalonzo would negotiate with other Kenya Kwanza Alliance principals on the suitable role to play in the coalition but not the running mate slot.
“He would come and do a discussion with Kenya Kwanza partners and coalition partners because he has delayed his decision. Our presidential candidate and running mate are now very clear and their names have been submitted to Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as per the legal timeline” said Maina.
Veronica revealed that Kenya Kwanza Coalition is still on a hunting mission for partners with other bigwig parties and influential leaders ahead of forthcoming August contest to form a formidable coalition that will hopefully trash opponents’ bid of securing the top seat.
“So if he came in now, yes he woul negotiate because Kenya Kwanza is an open coalition which is still listening to other partners who would want to work with us before the election and even after the election on 9th of August” she stated.
“If Kalonzo came in now, he would have a chance to negotiate, but not on top tier levels in terms of being a deputy president candidate” Veronica Maina added.
Kalonzo walked out of Azimio – One Kenya coalition on Monday, 16th May, after Raila named Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua as his principal assistant in oncoming general election.
Defiant Kalonzo vowed to go as lone ranger for the country’s top seat in August race.
