Azimio leader Raila and President Ruto

President William Ruto has once again suggested that he plans on ending Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga’s political career.

Ruto has said that he has a plan to send Raila back to Bondo, in reference to the former Prime Minister’s native home in Siaya County.

He has suggested that this will happen after the planned talks between his side and Raila’s, amid verbal exchanges between the two camps.

Ruto has said that after the talks, if Raila shows any signs of planning to get into the government through the back door, that will be the end of him politically.

The Head of State has made the remarks while assuring Kenyans, especially his supporters, that he will not give Raila any position in his government.

“This is a hustlers government and there will be no power sharing with anybody else. For Raila, what remains is loading him onto a wheelbarrow and wheeling him to Bondo,” he is quoted by The Star.

Ruto made the remarks while addressing residents at Tetu in Nyeri on Monday. He was in the company of his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua.

Ruto added that the talks between Azimio and Kenya Kwanza must touch on what affects Kenyans and not what individuals can get.

“We are telling our friends we can negotiate on many things but we cannot negotiate on two things, we cannot negotiate on handshake or nusu mkate and on violence. Violence must stop and there is no nusu mkate or handshake,” he added.

But Raila has repeatedly made it clear that he is not interested in being part of Ruto’s government, with the main demand in his list of things to be discussed being the high cost of living.

Raila is also known for his long political career, and clashes with four of the country’s five presidents, even as Ruto claims to be able to end his career.
