Gideon Moi‘s KANU MP elect for Tiaty Constituency Hon William Kamket has lauded United Democratic Alliance (UDA) president elect William Ruto for the controversial victory in the just concluded general election.
Kamket dismissed Ruto’s critics and threatened to jump from Azimio – One Kenya coalition ship for refuting Ruto’s victory.
“William Ruto is my friend, being a kalenjin like me, I will not join a team of people who want to see my brother down. We may differ on other things but I must protect his success with all my body organs” he said.
He asked the hustler nation chief to call him for political deals and address the welfare of Tiaty people under the Kenya Kwanza government.
“I’m not doing so because I want favours from his government but because he won fairly. A man who doesn’t want to see your brother succeeding will also be jealous of your success when you succeed. Bwana Rais, twanga kazi ndugu. I am a phone call away, reach me whenever you need me. I am ready to work with you” he added.
Mr. Kamket has been Ruto’s longtime nemesis political critic especially in Baringo county.
He retained MP seat, becoming the only Azimio la Umoja One Kenya MP in Baringo County, a region perceived as the stronghold of Dr Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
Embattled Kanu leader Gideon Moi lost the Baringo Senate seat, defeated by UDA’s William Cheptumo, who garnered 141,777 votes against the former’s 71,480.
Mr Moi was seeking a third term and came in second, while Felix Chelaite of The Service Party (TSP) garnered 3,261.
The outspoken MP Cheptumo had served three terms as Baringo North MP and is a close ally of Dr Ruto.
But Kanu put on a sterling show in Tiaty, with Mr Kamket garnering 17,933 votes to trounce his closest political rival and predecessor Asman Kamama of the Kenya Union Party (KUP).
