Its now emerging that the Luo Nyanza region will not be left behind as President William Ruto arranges his cabinet, which might be announced soon.
Insiders told The Star that the position might be given to either former Migori Governor Okoth Obado or Kenya Kwanza strategist Eliud Owalo.
The Gusii zone, also part of the larger Nyanza region, will also get one cabinet seat, with the paper establishing that Ex Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Machogu might land the Trade and Industry job.
Insiders, however, have told Kenyans to expect a smaller number of female CSs, a departure from Ruto’s earlier 50 percent promise.
“He [the President] may not reach the number that he promised but he will have at least six professional women joining the Cabinet,” the source disclosed.
The Mt Kenya region, it’s understood, will get four Cabinet slots, with among those being considered being Kandara Member of Parliament Alice Wahome, who might end up with the Health docket.
Others, the paper has established, will be Kamau Thugge (National Treasury), former Meru Senator Mithika Linturi (Agriculture) and former Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki (Interior).
Ruto was initially expected to unveil his team before leaving for the United Kingdom. He has, however, since arranged his team in parliament, ready for the tough governance job lying ahead.
