Deputy President William Ruto’s running mate nominee and Mathira legislator Rigathi Gachagua has reportedly been stoned in Igembe North, Meru county forcing the security officers to whisk him to safety.

According to KTN News, Kenya Kwanza allied supporters clashed with Azimio – One Kenya’s confidants in the region, resulting to the pelting of stones at the Kenya Kwanza running mate, Rigathi Gachagua.

Police officers were forced to swiftly intervene and rescue Gachagua to safety. Police lobbed teargas to re-install calmness and peace that had been suspended by the two rival political factions.

This emerges a week after Gachagua had re-embarked on the Kenya Kwanza campaign trail after taking an unannounced sabbatical break from active politics.

Deputy President William Ruto on the other hand among a host of Western region legislators allied to Kenya kwanza has stormed the Mulembe nation wooing and cajoling voters to embrace the hustler nation’s bottom-up economic model ahead of the August, 9 elections.

In his western region charm offensive tour, Ruto launched scathing attacks at Defence cabinet secretary Eugene Wamalwa, while responding to slapping remarks.

Referring to Wamalwa as a woman, DP Ruto sarcastically stated that Kalenjin culture restricts men from slapping women in whichever circumstance.

“Our culture (Kalenjin) does not allow men to slap women,” he said.

During Azimio – One Kenya mega rally at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega, Wamalwa had accused the second of command DP Ruto over alleged intentions to slap him (Wamalwa) and Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i in 2018.

“William Ruto almost slapped me for taking a dozen of Luhya leaders from this region (Western region) to President Uhuru Kenyatta instead of him. He almost slapped Matiang’i too at the statehouse. I have the witnesses even the former prime minister Raila Odinga was present. He can ascertain” said Wamalwa in Kakamega.

Raila Odinga, on the other hand, has camped in the coastal regions drumming support for his presidential bid ahead of the next election.
