Kenyan-based celebrated lawyer Wahome Thuku travelled to Uganda over the weekend on a perceived mission of executing Nairobi senator and Kenya Kwanza gubernatorial aspirant Johnson Sakaja’s Bachelor of Science in Management (External) degree certificate from Team University in Uganda.
Wahome was accompanied by Jubilee party popular blogger, Nyto Mwangi, as they headed to Team University and requested for graduation booklet for those who graduated in October, 21st 2016, from the institution.
After securing the booklet, determined Wahome and Mwangi crisscrossed through the booklet and found the names of Bachelor of Science in Management graduands. Shockingly, Senator Johnson Sakaja’s name was missing since he had presented academic credentials to Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) seeking clearance to vie for Nairobi gubernatorial seat, which indicated that he graduated from Team University in 2016.
This jointly emerges after All Africa Conference Churches demanded Team University revoke Sakaja’s degree certificate over forgery claims.
According to Conference Churches, Sakaja claimed to have registered for E-learning at the institution in 2012, while the University has legalized the commission of online classes in 2020, during the ravaging COVID-19 time.

They compelled the University to provide the senator’s admission letter, details of payment of tuition fees, mode of instructions leading to the award of the degree, and a certified copy of those who graduated from the institution in 2016.
“Sakaja was a nominated Member of Parliament in Kenya between 2013 and 2017. Therefore it is not practically possible that he physically attended classes at Team University as the university has no campus in Kenya and from the available records in the Kenyan parliament, there is no evidence of Sakaja’s absenteeism from parliament to enable him to have physically attended the school,” the letter reads.
“As for online classes, your university was not licensed to offer online classes and indeed did not offer any such classes during the period between 2012 and 2016 when Mr. Sakaja claims to have attended the school.”
Sakaja has been embroiled in a degree forgery saga that threatens to block him from participating in the forthcoming election.
