A new Mwelekeo Insights survey on preferred candidates for the Member of Parliament seat in Maragua Constituency has shown clear preferences among respondents ahead of the 2027 General Election. The poll, covering the Central Kenya constituency, ranked several aspirants based on support percentages and highlighted a strong frontrunner.

Wambui Nyutu of the DCP emerged at the top of the rankings. She secured 54.9 percent support, placing her well ahead of the rest of the field.
This solid lead suggests strong early backing for her candidacy in the constituency.
Coming in second was Mary Wamaua of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). She received 31.5 percent support.
The gap between the top two candidates is notable, with Nyutu holding a clear advantage of more than 20 percentage points.
Jimmy Mbaku took third place with 11.5 percent.
Further down the list, Cyrus Ngugi of DCP recorded 0.9 percent, Laban Choma of DCP got 0.7 percent, and William Kamau Ngoru of Jubilee Party stood at 0.5 percent.
These percentages paint a picture of a race currently dominated by two main contenders, with Nyutu enjoying the strongest position at this stage.
The remaining candidates trail significantly, indicating that voter preference is concentrated at the top.
