President William Ruto on Tuesday led a series of development rallies across Nairobi County, accompanied by several of his broad-based allies.

The events were attended by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, Lang’ata MP Jalang’o, Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie, Kasarani MP Ronald Karauri, and nominated senators Tabitha Mutinda and Karen Nyamu.

During a stop in Dagoretti, Kasarani MP Ronald Karauri faced a hostile reception after a section of youths heckled him while chanting “Wantam.”

Despite the chants, Karauri remained calm and proceeded with his speech. He told the crowd that he was the only Member of Parliament elected on an independent ticket in Nairobi asking them for their support in his bid to transform the city.

The incident comes days after Karauri declared his interest in vying for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the 2027 General Election.

The opposition from part of the crowd could be linked to supporters of Governor Johnson Sakaja, who is also expected to seek re-election in 2027.

The rally, however, continued without further disruption as President Ruto reiterated his administration’s commitment to development projects in the capital.
