Popular Tanzanian artist and “Sukari” hotcakes has joined a list of growing African musicians whose EPs, images and songs have been advertised on one of the busiest streets in America, known as Times Square In New York. The Times Square spot is a busy area, and one of the billboards showed Zuchu’s picture, who is one of the most sought-after singers in Africa. Zuchu’s picture went live on the billboards on Thursday, May 26, a day after she was named the ambassador of the month by a streaming site known as Spotify.
It shall be recalled that Zuchu was named the EQUAL ambassador of Spotify for the month of July, something that many African artists have not had the privilege to achieve for so many years. The initiative by Spotify was created to ensure that women in the music industry were motivated. The move was meant to bring equality and to ensure that talented African women were appreciated. The platform was also a way to celebrate talented African women who have gone out of their way to make fans entertained.
Reacting to the big announcement, Zuchu stated that being part of EQUAL music programme by Spotify meant a lot to her, adding that as she continued to grow, she needed support. She became the third African female musician to be featured in the EQUAL Programme.
Zuchu becomes the first female East African artiste to bag notable recognition across the globe. The Sukari hitmaker shot to fame after she was signed to Diamond Paltinumz’s record label, Wasafi Records. She has scaled heights since and is among the most celebrated artistes in East Africa.
From us here on Mambo Mseto News, we would like to wish the singer well in her future endeavours. What do you love about singer Zuchu? Share your views down below. Share other relevant insights with us.
