Shock As Mudavadi Sends Stern Warning To CS Moses Kuria

Chief Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has found Trade CS Moses Kuria in the wrong regarding his remarks touching on the maize importation issue.

Kuria has been the face of the matter, even giving farmers an ultimatum to release their hoarded maize, threatening that the state will import the product if they don’t do it by the mentioned date.

But Mudavadi now says that the CS has been venturing into the mandate of another minister, pointing out that the maize issue is not in his docket.

Speaking on Monday, he pointed out that the matter should actually be handled by Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi, while telling Kuria to keep off the matter and leave it to the right CS.

“The issue of importation of maize should be guided by a survey by the Ministry of Agriculture to find out if there is a deficit of the grains, that is a policy that must be well electioneered,” he is quoted by The Star.

But Kuria has been making declarations on the matter, some of which have been met with criticism, like his recent claim that GMO foods will only be another of the candidates competing to kill Kenyans.

Mudavadi’s announcement comes after Linturi too disowned Kuria’s importation remarks, saying that the matter is actually his to handle.

“Hold your horses because I want to give you a position that I am ready to defend. I need to have statistics before I can answer that. I Will give a more comprehensive report on the national food status at a later date when I have all the data. Relax, you will have food,” the former Meru Senator said.
