Nairobi incumbent senator and Kenya Kwanza aspirant for gubernatorial contest, Johnson Sakaja, has gunned the head of state president Uhuru Kenyatta for allegedly betraying him, even after helping him (Uhuru) to secure presidency in 2013 and 2017 general elections.

Speaking on Wednesday, after appearing before the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Disputes Resolutions Committee, Sakaja claimed that he has the requisite qualifications to vie for the office of governor.

“All theses things you are seeing are political witch-hunt because I have the requisite qualifications to run for the office of governor” he said.

He also added that he is the only candidate who has been subjected to thorough scrutiny and intimidations even after presenting his academic credentials to IEBC for clearance to vie for Nairobi seat.

“In fact the admission of some involved in this process, is that there is no candidate in the history of elections in Kenya who has gone through this kind of scrutiny and not just scrutiny, but intimidations and coercion as well” he added.

He stated that his opponents have been shooting at his credibility and maligning and soiling his name to thrash his public reputation. He also argued that he did everything in his ability to uplift President Uhuru Kenyatta’s political career from the time he was appointed Chairman of TNA.

“I even addressed my former party leader, that I did everything in my ability to his career but now he is doing everything in his ability to finish mine. It is well, I have God and I want to my supporters that our march is unshakable and our victory is inevitable” Sakaja emotionally addressed the media

Sakaja’s fate is set to be determined on Sunday at 2pm by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Disputes Resolutions Committee chaired by Willis Otieno.

The Commission’s tribunal quashed three cases against senator after the petitioners failed to appear before the committee, yesterday, Wednesday, 15th June, 2022.
