Professor Herman Manyora has come out to state that President William Ruto has set the political bar very high in his first stab at the presidency, and thus it would be a big challenge for his opponents in 2027 if they wish to unseat him.
Even though he notes that a good team comprising of the Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and others can have a formidable team and unseat Ruto, he says that it will not be a walk in the park if such leaders do not use money and other resources.
“Kalonzo has shown that he can indeed lead this country as the president, but there are varied dynamics of politics. Being around for long does not mean that he can automatically lead.”
“President Ruto as put the politics of this country in another level, and you should compete at that level. That is a very high level and very complex made by the use of money.”
“People like Kalonzo and even Raila Odinga are not used to using resources in their politics, and with the manner in which Ruto took the political space, anyone who wants to indulge in politics and play in that league must know the reality, and that is using resources,” said Manyora.
