Herman Manyora has made an allegation that the 2022 presidential election between DP Ruto and his main Azimio la Umoja challenger Raila Odinga is a done mission. He said it’s over even before the election day arrives after the two have chosen their running mates. Professor Manyora said this during an interview with Citizen television’s Daybreak morning show. He said Deputy President William Ruto knows it, and that he is now just searching for numbers in the Parliament.

He claimed that when Raila chose Martha Karua as his running mate, the election was done and that the campaigns for DP Ruto had failed. He’s now seeking members of Parliament who voted for him during his campaigns, as well as governors.

The DP had hoped that Raila would choose Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka as his running mate, making it easier for him to sweep the Mount Kenya area and retain President Uhuru Kenyatta’s 2017 vote totals. However, Raila’s choice of Martha Karua has greatly harmed Ruto’s chances, as the 25 per cent of votes he needed from the mountain to win has now shifted to 40 per cent and 45 per cent, a major setback for the Deputy President.

“The presidential election is over; the moment Ruto chose Gachagua and Raila chose Martha Karua, the election was over, and Ruto’s efforts were over, ” said Manyora.

He said that whatever Ruto did yesterday in Kirinyaga was merely a show, and because he is so intelligent, he is now seeking MPs in Parliament and maybe some governors. Manyora said he has repeatedly said that for Ruto to win this election, he must keep Uhuru’s 2017 votes which are primarily from Mount Kenya and the Rift Valley. However, since Raila chose Karua, even the 25% he was expecting has risen to 40% and 45 per cent.

According to Manyora, he believes DP Ruto will have to put in more effort in order to turntables.
