In a development that has left a family devastated and demanding justice, 24-year-old Daisy Waweru tragically fell to her death from the fourth floor of E Wings Apartments in Ngong, Kajiado County, on the night of July 31.
However, what initially seemed like a straightforward investigation has now become mired in controversy and suspicion.
A postmortem revealed that Daisy suffered multiple injuries to her head, chest, and abdomen, consistent with blunt force trauma. These findings raised immediate questions about the nature of her death.
Despite this, the four individuals who were with Daisy at the time—two men and two women—were quickly released by the police, who claimed their probe indicated that the group had no involvement in her fall. The suspects insisted that Daisy’s death was a tragic accident.

But the family of Daisy Waweru isn’t convinced. They believe there is an attempt to deny them justice by downplaying the circumstances surrounding her death.
Their concerns deepened when they learned that, despite the suspicious nature of Daisy’s injuries, the investigation has stalled.
Specimens, including urine samples, vaginal swabs, and blood, were collected for further analysis, but the results have not yet been shared with the family.
The release of the four suspects has only fueled the family’s suspicions. Daisy’s mother, Susan Mungai, has publicly questioned the integrity of the investigation, alleging that there may be a cover-up in play.
The family is particularly troubled by the fact that their statements were not taken by the authorities immediately following the incident. Instead, they were advised to focus on burial preparations and told that their statements could be recorded later.
“There is something they are covering up, or he is covering for them, I don’t know,” Mungai said, expressing her frustration and grief.
As Daisy was laid to rest in an emotional ceremony at Lang’ata Cemetery in Nairobi, the family vowed that their pursuit of justice is far from over. They are determined to uncover the truth behind Daisy’s death and hold those responsible accountable.
The police have maintained that the investigation is ongoing and that the case file will be forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions with various recommendations.
However, the Waweru family remains skeptical, fearing that the truth may never come to light.
