Sifuna Reveals Why Ruto Is So Desperate To Control Parliament

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has revealed why President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza coalition are so desperate to have control of Parliament.

Speaking at a morning interview on Citizen TV, the ODM Secretary General stated that Ruto is alive to the fact that if Azimio is declared the majority in Parliament, some of his cabinet secretary nominees will not make it through the vetting process.

Sifuna fingered CS Public Service nominee Aisha Jumwa and CS Trade nominee Moses Kuria as the appointees who are unlikely to make it through the process if Azimio is in control of the August House.

“I understand why President Ruto wants to have control of Parliament, he knows if we have control of the committees, there are names that can’t be CSs in this country. Aisha Jumwa & Moses Kuria don’t have the moral probity to be CSs,” he said.

In a rejoinder, Nandi Senator Simon Cherargei, who was also speaking at the same interview, defended President William Ruto affirming that the Kenya Kwanza coalition is the majority party in Parliament and thus there would be no need for the Head of State to be purportedly desperate to take control of the house.

“The President does not intend to control Parliament; there’s no doubt that the Kenya Kwanza coalition is the majority in Parliament. Speaker Wetangula should declare Kenya Kwanza the majority,” Cherargei said.

The Nandi lawmaker further said that CS nominee Aisha Jumwa and her counterpart Moses Kuria have been given clean bills of health by relevant authorities.

“Aisha Jumwa and Moses Kuria were cleared by agencies like DCI, KRA and EACC before their nomination and I predict that the docket the two hold, will be the best performing,” he said.
