President William Ruto is currently meeting Kenya Kwanza Members of Parliament at Statehouse.

According to reports, the meeting is meant for finalizing the “leadership and membership” of parliamentary committees that will play a huge role in approving government policies and expenditure plans.

Aside from that, the Kshs50 billion Hustlers’ Fund is also up for discussion.

The meeting comes just before the swearing-in of the 24 members of Ruto’s cabinet who were approved by the National Assembly.

The 24 individuals including Musalia Mudavadi(Prime CS), Justin Muturi(Attorney General), Aden Dual, and Kipchumba Murkomen among others will be sworn in today at The Statehouse.

Cabinet nominees swearing-in

Reactions have however emerged after all the 24 cabinet nominees were approved even though some were rejected by the House Committee of Appointments.

Penina Malonza was rejected by all committee members while Azimio suggested that Aisha Jumwa(Public Service) and Mihika Linturi(Agriculture) should be added to the rejections list.

A section of Kenyans now feel that there is no use of vetting the nominees only for them to be approved by MPs when the vetting report is tabled on the floor of the national Assembly.

“They should abolish the vetting process and get the MPs plenary to debate and pass or reject as they just did,” former Kiambu governor William Kabogo said
