Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka seems very serious on his 2027 presidential bid, where he will be seeking to unseat the incumbent William Ruto.
Kalonzo has been seen repeatedly postponing his bid in favour of ODM leader Raila Odinga over the years, with Raila now appearing out of the way.
The Standard reports that he has began campaigning five years to the election, apparently copying the strategy that worked for Ruto in August.
This is an implementation of his recent vow to begin campaigning as early as possible, the same thing that Ruto began doing immediately after 2017 polls.
He seems to be using his new position as the face of the opposition to do the same, a move that might hand him Raila’s strongholds.
On Tuesday, he bashed Ruto over his stand on consumption of GMO products in the country, with Raila too bashing the President over unkept vows.
“I feel the way you are also feeling. I know the price of maize flour and fuel has increased same as fares and rent. Everything has increased and the salaries have remained the same while some reduced and I know Kenyans are feeling bad and are painful,’’ Raila said at the Jivanjee Gardens in Nairobi.
He is, however, yet to formally endorse Kalonzo, who he has been with since 2013.
