As the 2027 general elections draw closer, voters in Makadara Constituency are already signaling their preferences. A new digital poll conducted by Mwelekeo Insights sheds light on the current political landscape, revealing a highly competitive race for the parliamentary seat. The survey, which captured quite a number of registered voters, shows a clear frontrunner but also highlights a significant challenge from a close competitor.
According to the data released by Mwelekeo Insights, the contest is currently a battle between two main candidates, with the rest of the field trailing far behind.
The Top Contenders
Geoffrey Wauna, popularly known as “Pedeshe,” has emerged as the leading candidate with 42.6% of the vote share in the survey. This puts him at the top of the list and gives him a narrow but notable advantage over his closest rival.
Right on his heels is Faith Norah Lukosi, who secured a very strong 42% of the respondents’ support. This result indicates that the race is exceptionally tight, with less than one percentage point separating the top two candidates. Both have established a significant lead over the rest of the field, suggesting that the final contest will likely be a two-horse race unless the current dynamics change significantly.
The Rest of the Field
The survey results show a steep drop in support for the other candidates, who are currently seen as long shots.
· George Aladwa came in a distant third place with 9.1% of the vote.
· Irungu Nyakera followed with 4.5%.
· The remaining candidates, Reuben Ndolo, Mark Ndung’u, Anthony Waithaka, and Benson Mutura, received less than 1% of the vote each.
This reinforces the perception that the electorate is currently focused on the two primary candidates, with many undecided or leaning heavily toward the top contenders.
What This Means for the Race
This survey provides a “snapshot in time,” and it is important to remember that voter preferences can shift before the 2027 elections. However, the strong showing by both Pedeshe and Lukosi sets the stage for what could be a very competitive campaign season. For the other candidates, the results show they have substantial ground to cover if they hope to become competitive. With 100% turnout recorded in this poll, it also signals a highly engaged electorate that is already paying close attention to the race.
