The tension between the two has led the Deputy President to seek alternative political strategies, as it became clear that he might be replaced in the run-up to the 2027 general election.

In a phone interview this morning, the Deputy President stated, “Only a fool doesn’t change their tune,” indicating his readiness to work with the opposition chief in 2027, even if it means deputizing him.
