In a surprising turn of events, Deputy President Hon Riggy G has reportedly broken ranks with the Kenya Kwanza Alliance. This comes just days after his public apology to former President Uhuru Kenyatta and his family.

According to local reports, the Deputy President’s decision was influenced by an ongoing feud with a young Mt Kenya lawmaker. The tension between the two has led the Deputy President to seek alternative political strategies, as it became clear that he might be replaced in the run-up to the 2027 general election.

The escalating internal conflict within the Kenya Kwanza camp has further catalyzed his decision to announce his political future. In a phone interview this morning, the Deputy President stated, “Only a fool doesn’t change their tune,” indicating his readiness to work with the opposition chief in 2027, even if it means deputizing him.

So far, no one from the Mt Kenya region has responded to this development. However, it is certain that this decision will cause unrest within the Kenya Kwanza camp, especially among those loyal to President William Ruto.

“Uhuru Kenyatta is my deer brother and  I can’t sit and watch as some fellow leaders disrespect him,” Gachagua said in the phone.

As for whether Gachagua made the right decision, it’s difficult to say without knowing all the factors he considered. However, in politics, adaptability and strategic thinking are crucial. If I were to meet him today, I would advise him to continue listening to the needs of the people he represents, to remain adaptable, and to always prioritize the greater good over personal or political interests. Politics is a complex game, and only time will tell if his decision was the right one.
