Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is not the person Mt Kenya natives are looking for as their next kingpin, political analyst Macharia Munene says.
This is even as the DP is at the moment considered the region’s new political spokesman, being the most senior in the current political arrangement.
But Munene says that what Gachagua has is the opportunity to prove himself, but he will soon be rejected because he lacks the needed qualifications.
He opines that Gachagua is among leaders who already have a tainted image and lacks the vision, trust, civility and maturity needed by the region.
It is for this reason that he is of the prediction that Gachagua doesn’t qualify to lead the region, as well as the other many leaders eyeing the same position.
“DP Rigathi Gachagua has an opportunity but he loses due to having little sense of civic occasion,” the commentator writes in The Standard.
He says that Interior CS Kithure Kindiki and Attorney General Justin Muturi, who are also candidates, have also failed to prove themselves as the best.
“The difficulty in identifying a potential leader from the existing crop is because each is lacking in at least one of three leadership qualities. These qualities are vision, trust, civility and maturity that is conceptually associated with ‘going to the river.’ Several would-be leaders are tainted and lack clear vision for the mountain,” he adds.
