Kenya Kwanza running mate nominee and Mathira legislator Rigathi Gachagua has claimed to have assumed the role of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party leader’s position, citing that the coalition’s presidential candidate William Ruto is overall principal head of the Alliance.

Speaking to Nation, Gachagua informed that DP Ruto is tasked to head and spearhead the agenda of the coalition and this puts him to a huge task of leading UDA party in the Alliance.

“William Ruto is the leader of Kenya Kwanza, we have other party leaders; Musalia Mudavadi is ANC so he talks for ANC within Kenya Kwanza, Wetangula talks for Ford Kenya, Kuria talks for Chama Cha Kazi, Kabogo for Tujibebe, Muturi talks for DP party…someone must talk for UDA within Kenya Kwanza, that is Rigathi Gachagua,” Gachagua said

“I have no regrets…Ruto is the head of Kenya Kwanza and is the father figure of all the sister parties within Kenya Kwanza but the sister parties have leaders and by nomination now, I have become the leader of UDA within the KK formation” he added

Gachagua addresses Wamatangi-Kabogo feud

Addressing the altercations that ensued during Kenya Kwanza campaigns in Kiambu among Tujibebe party leader William Kabogo, UDA candidate Kimani Wamatangi and Chama Cha Kazi party boss Moses Kuria, Gachagua affirmed that he has no apologies to make for campaigning for Wamatangi.

He stated that Wamatangi is a UDA candidate and he is obliged to rally electorates to vote for his party candidate in Mt Kenya region, that is presumably UDA hotbed.

“If I go to an area that is predominantly UDA, I have a responsibility to campaign for a UDA candidate but if I go to an area that is predominantly ANC, I campaign for Kenya Kwanza, those are political realities” Gachagua noted.

“The same will happen to Musalia Mudavadi, when he comes to UDA bedroom, he will campaign for Kenya Kwanza and not ANC candidates” he added.
