Azimio La Umoja One Kenya alliance brigade hosted the most expensive event in Kenya’s state house succession race. During their campaign wrap-up party, Azimio La Umoja hired world-class artists, and among them was the Tanzanian-based Bongo singer Diamond Platinumz broadly known as Simba.

Kenyans have been expressing mixed reactions as far as the event is concerned. Some feel like the Azimio La Umoja team did not recognize Kenyan talent, something every artist has requested.

Others trolled Diamond Platinumz over claims that his performance was so cheap and any Kenyan artist would have surfaced it. It seems like Diamond Platinumz’s performance wooed so many youths who can’t help but blame the Azimio team for looking down upon their very own Kenyan talent.

Speculations on social media show that Azimio La Umoja spent a lot of cash hiring Diamond for his performance. However, according to Nation, on the 8th, a day to the election day established that Diamond, who allegedly performed for 10 minutes at Azimio’s final campaigns rally, was paid a sum of $ 100,000, equal to KSH 11.9 million.

Rumors have it that the event was organized by Mombasa county governor Hassan Joho but funded by a Tanzanian Tycoon who is said to have a close relationship with the Azimio team.

As per the information given by Diamond’s manager Sallam SK during an interview with Wasafi TV, apart from the performance fee given to him, the event organizers also have to make sure that the singer flys to the venue in a private jet and cover his meals and accommodation in a 5-star hotel.
