Acclaimed lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi now claims that President Uhuru Kenyatta and Azimio One Kenya Alliance presidential flagbearer Raila Odinga plan to push the rerun of the presidential elections to 2025 in case the Supreme Court nullifies Deputy President William Ruto’s win.
Constitutionally, a rerun should be held 60 days after the nullification of the presidential elections. However, the senior counsel claims that the outgoing Head of State and Raila Odinga will put in a place a well-orchestrated plan to ensure that Uhuru’s tenure is prolonged.
The scheme, he says, involves a protracted campaign to have Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati ousted from office.
“If the Supreme Court orders a rerun, Kenyans will go to the polls in 2025. H.E UHURU/Raila will not allow a rerun in 60 days. They will demand “Chebukati must go” and IEBC be reconstituted. Uhuru always desperately wanted 2 extra years. He will get it & fragile Kenya will shatter,” he tweeted.
