Popular Kenyan actor and artist Olwenya Maina has passed on. Olwenya Maina, who played the role of Oti in the Nairobi Half Life film collapsed and died on arrival AT the hospital. The multi-talented Maina was a great inspiration to many, and his death has proven a great loss to the acting industry.
The actor
Various celebrities including his boss Abel Mutua were left in shock after his demise. Taking to his Instagram page, Abel posted a picture of Olwenya Maina and captioned it,
“Gone too soon. Rest in power.”
Cate actress, a colleague of Maina posted a picture of him on her Instagram stories and captioned, “why.” Sinema Focus production also shared a message that was closely tied to the actor’s passing away. They wrote,
“most of our great talents do not even understand social media. They pay no mind to it. They choose to stay true to the craft without the cheers. They remain the GOATs.”
Many other celebrities have sent their condolences to Oti’s family following the announcement of his death. His death broke the hearts of so many Kenyans who loved and cherished his talent. Many Kenyans took to social media and poured messages of good will to the fallen hero. Nairobi Half Life was a block-buster Kenyan movie that Kenyans enjoyed. Ken Waudo who happens to be the Creative Content Auditor at Laugh Industry stated,
“Unbelievable!!!! One guy I always had something to tell him anytime we met towards his growth, many a times we had fights about brand, but his independent mind won … Banyenjez you had natural talent from day one, we will for sure miss your input in the creative economy, all in all as painful as it is we release you to the next act.”
