Interior principal secretary Karanja Kibicho has blasted deputy president William Ruto for allegedly involving area chiefs in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Mt Kenya turf to gain sympathy votes.
Speaking on Saturday in Mt Kenya, Kibicho accused the Kenya Kwanza allied legislators of launching scathing attacks and hauling insults at him (Kibicho) during campaign rallies in the region.
He urged chiefs to concentrate on serving the people rather than being tagged in Kenya Kwanza campaigns at the expense of advancing Ruto’s politics.
“Kazi yao imekua ni kutusi Kibicho ni kama Kibicho ndio manifesto yao. Wakenya wako na akili zao kwa hio wasieke Kibicho hapo. Mtu akiona ground imemgeuka asiweke ma-chief hapo” said Kibicho.
“Chiefs are not political competitors, they are professionals who are tasked with ensuring the safety of Kenyans in the country. I want to call on Kenya Kwanza to stop interfering with their [chiefs’] work and seeking sympathy using them,” he added.
Kibicho has been facing constant backlash from the Kenya Kwanza wing for allegedly fighting deputy president William Ruto and hustler nation allied legislators.
Having publicly endorsed Raila Odinga’s presidential bid, Kibicho has been on the record for drumming support for Raila Odinga, especially in the Mt Kenya region and unleashing deep state machinery and connections to popularize Azimio – One Kenya coalition.
