Busia county Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has been cleared to vie for Teso South Parliamentary seat in oncoming August election by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)

“The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has cleared me to contest the Teso South Parliamentary seat on an ODM ticket during the August 9th, 2022 polls” said Ojaamong.

He noted that his manifesto will be centered on gearing the journey of economic liberation for the people of Teso South. Ojaamong insisted that through various partnerships with potential investors in the constituency, he will manage to instill the creation of industries and create jobs for unemployed youths in the constituency.

“The journey for economic liberation started after political liberation that gave birth to political parties. Our number one agenda is the economic liberation of our people. We need to put our heads together by spearheading the construction of industries to create jobs for unemployed youth” he added.

He added that the desire is not seeking elective seats but to induce economic liberation plans for the people. Having served as Busia Governor for two terms, Ojaamong assured that through the experience he has acquired, he will ably uplift the lifestyles of the underprivileged in the society.

“The objective is not seeking for seats but economic liberation of the people. There are many agendas to be handled at the National Assembly including taxes and funds. It’s painful for the Government to borrow money every month; we need to use our vast experience to help the country overcome the current economic turndown” he said

He also called leaders seeking various elective seats to embrace peace and vouch for peaceful campaigns ahead of the next election.

“Let candidates for various seats conduct peaceful campaigns devoid of which-hunt and character assassination; let whoever is popular to electorate carry the day but on condition that they have good agenda for the people. The IEBC process was efficient with the only challenge being in the system which was slow, thus making it difficult to download some documents”
