Today, Monday, 25th May 2026, brings a crisp, golden moment to Nyandarua High School, nestled below the resplendent Aberdare ranges, and with it an occasion burnished with special lustre on its Education Day 2026. This year will see a celebration of star learners recognised, the highlight being heroes and heroines of the 2025 KCSE cohort that was crowned the finest in Nyandarua County.

Presiding over the festivities is the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Hon. Julius Migos Ogamba, joined by the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife Hon Rebecca Miano and the Governor of Nyandarua County His Excellency Kiarie Badilisha. This is a distinguished trio whose presence in the school will certainly lift the event from local pride to national recognition.

The school Principal’s Mr G.S. Muchiri and the Chairman of Nyandarua High School’s Board of Management Dr Kanyingi Waweru alongside the PA Chairman Mr Kuria Muthandi and members of the BoM as well as the Parents’ Association will welcome visitors who will include parents, stakeholders and government officials to a powerhouse of county academic excellence. In the house will be the alumni chairperson, Stanley Kinyanjui.

The heart of the day, however, will be the fêting of the 2026 KCSE class top performers. These emerging scholars dismantled county records, their mean grade far outstripping the average, and their roll of A and A- grades redrawing the school’s own history. One by one, top candidates will receive awards for a job well done including those in other classes in the school and those who excelled in co-curricular activities.

CS Ogamba, will address the gathering, to celebrate success rooted in a “rigorous culture of intellectual curiosity”. He will do so in acknowledgment of the fact that the good results are the harvest of discipline sown long before the examination hall. He will be physically available to remind the Nyandarua High School fraternity and indeed the whole Kenya the school system exists to inculcate a culture that aims at creating “custodians of a finer Kenya.”

Meanwhile, the CS for Tourism and Wildlife whose ancestral home is in Nyandarua County will serve as a reminder that education truly opens doors and that the Nyandarua High School students should dare dream big because as Lupita Nyong’o once famously said, the dreams of the students “are valid.” The Governor, Nyandarua County, Excellency Kiarie Badilisha, a proud son of the county, will show the goodwill and support necessary for an institution with a great promise.

By the end of the day, the formalities will give way to a celebration of excellence grander than none other in recent times in Nyandarua High School.

The day will be a reminder that Nyandarua High School has the capability to bloom not in a fleeting flash but as a perennial garden of a rare “riot of colours.”

At the end of it all, Nyandarua High School’s 2026 Education Day will etch its mark in the annals of history as an institution with a great future brimming with yet to be fully explored possibilities.
