President William Ruto drew attention in Baringo County after stepping out in a relaxed outfit topped with luxury sunglasses during the Baringo Cultural Festival and Kimalel Goat Auction. Many Kenyans at the event and online quickly noticed the eyewear as images spread across social media.

The President chose a smart casual look instead of the formal suits often seen at State House events.

The golden sunglasses stood out and added a bold touch to his appearance as he interacted with leaders pastoralists and traders at the busy grounds.

The eyewear has been identified as Classic C de Cartier Motif Sunglasses. The product is made by Cartier a well known French luxury brand with a long history of fine craftsmanship and high end fashion.

The sunglasses feature a distinct C design on the sides which is a signature mark of the brand. They also come with rimless frames and smooth gold finishing that gives them a clean modern look.

The frames are plated with eighteen karat gold and fitted with photochromic lenses. These lenses adjust to light making them suitable for bright outdoor conditions such as the sunny climate in Baringo County.

Online listings show that the sunglasses cost between Ksh145000 and Ksh154000 depending on the seller.

The price has sparked discussion among Kenyans especially at a time when many are struggling with rising living costs.

Supporters say the President has a right to dress as he wishes and that personal style should not distract from national duties. Others argue that such displays of luxury send mixed signals during hard economic times.

The sunglasses also highlight how fashion plays a role in political branding. Ruto has increasingly appeared in smart casual outfits at cultural sports and grassroots events across the country.

During the goat auction the President moved freely among local leaders and residents. The eyewear proved useful under the harsh sun while still projecting a confident public image.

The Baringo Cultural Festival attracted large crowds and recorded strong livestock sales. It provided a platform for preserving culture and promoting local economic activity.

Even so many people left talking about the sunglasses as much as the speeches and ceremonies. Photos of the President holding a gavel with sunlight reflecting off the gold frames quickly went viral.

This is not the first time the President’s accessories have caught public attention. Earlier in the year he was spotted wearing a rare Rolex Daytona watch during an official trip abroad.
