A video has surfaced showing Mumias East MP Peter Salasya enjoying expensive liquor and singing melodiously, just a day after 281 MPs in the National Assembly voted in favor of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment.

The voting tally included 44 MPs against the motion and one absent.

Many took to social media to express their disappointment, with some stating that they have learned a valuable lesson about their choices in the 2022 general election.

Critics have slammed Salasia for appearing indifferent to the struggles faced by his constituents while flaunting a lavish lifestyle.

They argue that such behavior is inappropriate for a public servant, especially when his electorates are suffering.

“While people are struggling to make ends meet, he’s out here living it up,” one frustrated TikTok user commented.

On the other hand, some supporters defended Salasia, encouraging him to enjoy his life while he can. “He deserves to celebrate his achievements,” they argued, emphasizing the need for leaders to unwind amidst their responsibilities.

This incident has ignited a broader conversation about accountability and the expectations placed on public representatives in Kenya.

That aside, Deputy President Hon Rigathi Gachagua is expected to know his fate in the next 7 days in The Senate of Kenya where the 65 senators will debate and vote on his Impeachment motion.

The second in command is expected to defend himself using a battery of lawyers comprising of legal minds such as Ndegwa Njiru, Paul Muite, Mr Swanya among others.
