The traffic department, through a police report seen by Kenyans.co.ke, has advised motorists to avoid the bridge and seek alternative routes until the situation is remedied. “Members of the public are well advised to keep off that area until normalcy is restored,” read the statement in part.

The visible crack on the Joska bridge, which was reported on Sunday, has been cited as a potential hazard for those plying the route. The crack is believed to have formed as a result of the Athi River frequently overflowing the bridge, a situation exacerbated by the current floods.
The report was filed at the traffic base on Saturday evening at 07:30 after the crack deepened, raising concerns about the structural integrity of the bridge. However, as of the time of publishing this article, the Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) was yet to issue a statement on the matter.
The police have assured the public that a progress report on the fixing of the road will be issued to motorists in due time. In the meantime, they have reiterated their warning, urging motorists to heed their advice for their safety.
