In yet another move that has left pundits scratching their heads trying to understand what is happening, Githunguri MP Hon Gathoni Wamuchomba has announced her departure from the Hustler team, led by President William Ruto and his Deputy President Hon Rigathi Gachagua. She has instead joined the newly formed political movement, the Ground team, in preparation for the upcoming 2027 general elections.

In a statement made today and reported by KTN News, Wamuchomba, along with other youthful MPs including Babu Owino, declared their readiness to challenge the government when necessary. Wamuchomba stated that she is prepared to defend the interests of her constituents, expressing disappointment with the Skyteam’s abandonment of the hustler narrative that was prominent in the run-up to the 2022 general election.

Embakasi East MP Hon Babu Owino, a fellow member of the Ground team, outlined the group’s plans to engage in various opposition activities. These include organizing regional protests aimed at holding the Kenya Kwanza Government accountable.

Owino also issued a stern warning to those who believe the Ground team can be easily intimidated. He emphasized the team’s commitment to standing with the majority of Kenyans who are currently facing poverty and oppression. He assured that they are ready to face any consequences that may arise from their stance.

This development marks a significant shift in the political landscape as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections. It remains to be seen how these changes will impact the strategies of the various political teams and the response from the electorate.

Nevertheless, do you think MP Wamuchomba will manage to keep President William Ruto in check despite the fact that the likes of Raila Odinga failed terribly? Also, could this be a signal that the president will face stiff opposition in his re-election come the 2027 general election?
