President Uhuru Kenyatta has finally cleared the air over Deputy President William Ruto’s killing allegations that transpired during Kenya Kwanza campaign rallies in Kapsabet, Nandi.

Speaking on Sunday in Mihango, Embakasi East, where he was commissioning the dualling project of the city’s Eastern Bypass, the outgoing head of state condemned the angry traits portrayed by various leaders that have resulted in bitter exchanges of unprintable words, marred with hurling of insults.

He called upon the electorates to shun leaders with anger management problems and elect leaders who practice politics of dignity.

“Everyone has a constitutional obligation to elect leaders of their choice but I urge you to elect leaders who don’t get angry easily. Vote for leaders with dignity and who can drive the country’s economy forward” said Uhuru.

Uhuru responds to Ruto’s assassination claims

Responding to Ruto’s killing outbursts, Uhuru stated that he has n interest in eliminating his deputy since he is outgoing and seeks to plaster his legacy untainted.

Without mentioning names, he accused Azimio – One Kenya coalition critics for allegedly mastering in discrediting his administration and hurling insults at him for the past three years.

He urged DP Ruto to accept the results when defeated in the August contest and retire with him after the lapse of Jubilee’s second term.

“Nikikujibu kwa sababu umeambia wakenya uongo, unasema nataka kukua. Mimi sina haja ya kukua. Si mumenitusi kama nimekalia kiti karibu miaka tatu kama nimenyamaza, si nilikuwa na uwezo wa kufanya chenye nataka kufanya. Ukishindwa kubali tuende nyumbani wote” said uhuru.

This comes after UDA running mate Rigathi Gachagua had accused the head of state of allegedly scaling to eliminate him together with other Mt Kenya legislators allied to UDA including Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwah.

“In the next eight days, come to Sagana and pack your belongings and go home. You [president] called elders meeting and said I will know you are the president,”

“I helped you for 20 years. I got you from the bar and now you are threatening me. Please, don’t kill us like your dad [Mzee Jomo Kenyatta] killed JM Kariuki. If you so wish, then kill us this week,” said Gachagua in Nyeri.
