Two women hailing from President William Ruto’s rural home in Sugoi are stranded in the streets of Nairobi.

Evelyn Chepkemei and her friend walked from Sugoi to Nairobi to deliver a gift for Ruto following his victory in this year’s elections.

However, they have not handed over the mkokoteni gift to Ruto because they have not yet received an appointment to meet him.

Chepkemei narrattes that it took them five days on the road since they had no fare.

Upon reaching Nairobi, they were directed to meet Ruto during his swearing in ceremony.

They did not manage to talk to him because of his busy schedule and security barriers.

They then proceeded to Karen the next day, his then official residence where he used to meet hustlers. But upon reaching Karen they were asked to provide their appointment.

Ruto then travelled shortly to the UK for Queen Elizabeth burial and proceeded to US for UNGA meeting. They were patiently waiting for him all this time.

Chepkemei’s friend says that they are still waiting to be called for a handshake and celebration.

She adds that a well wisher came to their rescue after they were dumped at the gate of Ruto’s Karen home.

The well wisher has provided a place for them to stay and food but they now want to go home.
