The Azimio La Umoja coalition now wants the Nairobi County Government to prepare itself to handle it’s supporters who will throng the city on 20th.
It’s on this day that the ongoing county demonstrations and protests will culminate into one mega demonstration event in Nairobi.
The alliance has now suggested that it is anticipating some degree of trouble during the protests, and wants county ambulances on standby on that date.
It has also demanded that Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja avails medical facilities for similar reasons, as well as clean water and clean public toilets.
Area senator Edwin Sifuna, a member of Azimio, has also suggested that traffic flow will be disrupted, asking Sakaja to take the necessary precautions.
“Governor Sakaja should focus on preparing the City for our visitors on the 20th. We want clean public toilets, drinkable water in the CBD,our ambulances and medical facilities on standby, traffic marshalls to guide traffic and protect the visitors etc,” the ODM Secretary General said on Monday.
Already, Azimio leader Raila Odinga has said that the gathering will be very huge, terming it the mother of all the opposition activities currently going on.
It’s anticipated that the demonstrators might end up in running battles with the police, after Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki’s vow to crush any attempts to disrupt peace and order in the city.
Raila is protesting against among others, President William Ruto’s refusal to open the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) servers.
He has also been demanding inclusion in the reconstitution of the IEBC and a lowered cost of living, none of which the Head of State has done, hence his Thursday mass action declaration.
