President William Ruto is now plotting to have his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta removed from the leadership of the Jubilee Party, sources close to the former Head of State have alleged.Uhuru has remained the Jubilee Party leader and recently survived changes made by the National Executive Council (NEC) that saw three of his close allies ejected from top party offices.
It’s is alleged that these changes are being engineered from State House, and the next move will be an attempt to go for Uhuru himself, after he declared total support for Azimio boss Raila Odinga.
Those close to him told the Sunday Standard that the plan is to deny him the popularity and say Jubilee leadership is giving him, in a bid to render him a complete political wreck and exclude him from among those in the race to lead the Mt Kenya region.
Ousted Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni says that after removing Uhuru, Ruto plans to replace him with a stooge who can help his UDA party slowly absorb Jubilee leaders.
“They are after the former President who financed the formation of Jubilee party. The President is wrestling Jubilee from Uhuru so that they can impose a ‘Mr Yes man party leader’ and then prevail upon the leaders to ditch Jubilee to UDA,” he told the paper.
He has also confirmed that the other part of the plan is to try and completely remove Uhuru from the list of party leaders, in a bid to totally take over the Mt Kenya region, where Uhuru is still revered.
“Ruto is the face of UDA, Uhuru, Jubilee, Musalia Mudavadi Amani National Congress (ANC), National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula for Ford Kenya and the leaders are respected by their communities. They want to remove Uhuru from the matrix,” the former Ndaragwa MP says.
But this comes only a day after Jubilee National Chairman Nelson Dzuya said that there are no plans to show Uhuru the door as Party Leader.
