Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has launched fresh criticism against President William Ruto’s administration, issuing four key demands following his consultative meetings with Kenyans.
Speaking on Friday, February 28, Odinga called on the government to take urgent action against rising cases of abductions, rampant corruption, deep-rooted tribalism, and the ongoing health crisis linked to the new Social Health Authority (SHA).
He accused Ruto’s government of failing to address these pressing issues despite repeated concerns raised by citizens.
Odinga condemned the government’s inaction regarding the increasing cases of abductions, stating that Kenyans continue to disappear without trace while authorities remain silent.

He expressed alarm over reports of people being detained for extended periods without trial and others mysteriously losing their lives.
Calling for immediate intervention, he urged the government to end this “dangerous culture of intolerance” that he said threatens fundamental freedoms, including the right to assembly and peaceful demonstrations.
In his second demand, the former Azimio leader took issue with the government’s failure to tackle corruption, which he described as deeply entrenched.
He argued that despite Ruto’s pledges to fight graft, top government officials continue to engage in fraudulent dealings without accountability.

Odinga lamented that public funds meant for development projects were being misappropriated while Kenyans struggle with high living costs and economic hardships.
Tribalism within government appointments and service provision formed the basis of Odinga’s third demand.
He accused the administration of favoring individuals from certain communities, leading to discrimination against others.
He cited numerous complaints from Kenyans who felt sidelined in employment opportunities and public service delivery, calling for equal treatment of all citizens regardless of their ethnic background.

Lastly, Odinga demanded immediate government intervention in the health sector following disruptions caused by the introduction of SHA.
He argued that thousands of Kenyans were suffering due to delays in accessing medical services, with healthcare professionals and students also raising concerns.
Odinga’s demands come as he continues his nationwide consultative tour, engaging various groups to shape his political strategy ahead of the next elections.
