Police officers have blocked Kenya Kwanza allied supporters from accessing Jacaranda ground, Embakasi East for a mega rally that DP Ruto among other coalition principals were expected to attend.

Addressing the media on Sunday morning, embattled Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Johnson Sakaja lamented that the police officers who have allegedly been given an order by the deep state, are planning to block the Kenya Kwanza Jacaranda rally despite paying for the venue.

“Kenya Kwanza booked and paid for the Jacaranda grounds for our rally this afternoon. We won’t buckle at the intimidation of the State. We have a right to assemble. Our resolve for Nairobi and Kenya is clear and unstoppable,” Sakaja said.

According to the letter dated 15th June 2022, United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate for Embakasi East parliamentary seat, Francis Mureithi had paid ksh30,000 to the county government to book Jacaranda ground for today’s much-hyped rally.

Ruto held UDA rally at Jacaranda ground on 16th January, where the rally was marred with chaos after UDA and ODM supporters clashed forcing police officers to lobby teargas to disperse the unruly crowd.

Ruto blamed the former prime minister Raila Odinga for allegedly being at the centre to plan violence in his rally at Jacaranda. He urged the opposition leader Raila Odinga to accept defeat in August 9 contest and desist from instigating violence.

“I want to tell you bwana Raila Odinga, that I know you are the man behind this violence in my rally. It is fine, but please assure Kenyans that you will not instigate violence when we defeat you in August election. We don’t want to experience what has been happened in previous years after every election” Ruto said.
