Hon. Paul Muite, the former Member of Parliament for Kabete who also doubles as a senior counsel in Kenya has this evening called upon the Parliamentarians to check on some of the punitive bills that were passed secretly and which have continued to hurt Kenyans now that the Finance Bill 2024 that shook Ruto appears to have travelled to the world of no return.

Through his X handle on June 2027, the veteran political wrote “Good time to WITHDRAW/REPEAL all the recently enacted oppressive and anti-people Laws such as Crops Act criminalizing farmers using indigenous seeds in order to force them to multi-nationals seed producers which you cannot propagate.”

According to senior counsel Hon. Paul Muite, bills such as Crops Act have been criminalizing and forcing farners to use certain group of seeds in their farming activities such that they can purchase the seeds from certain companies, which are possibly owner by some powerful individuals.

It remains to be seen whther the MPs who appear shaken following the rejection of the Finance Bill 2024 will adopts Paul Muite’s call.

The clarion call from Hon. Paul Muite comes barely days after Kenyans for the first time in history and in what resembled the 2021 Capitol Hill chaos in the United States of America overpowered Anti-Riot cops and gained access to the Parliament buildings where massive looting, destruction of properties calling upon Pres William Ruto to reject the Finance Bill 2024 was the order of the day.

Similarly, there have been a general feeling that Parliament which is one arms of the govt has been hijacked and is being remote-controlled by the executive, in that anti-people bills have always been passed with minimal or no opposition since Pres William Ruto enjoys super majority from the bi-cameral house.
