Kirinyaga Woman Representative Jane Maina has taken a sharp swipe at Senior Economic Advisor Moses Kuria, mocking him after the much-anticipated swearing-in of Kithure Kindiki initially scheduled for today was abruptly postponed to a later date.
In a cheeky post on her social media account on Saturday, October 19, Maina questioned Kuria’s credibility, teasing him about the delayed event.
“Honourable Moses Kuria, please remind me what time the swearing-in ceremony will start,” she wrote on her X account, stirring reactions from Kenyans online.
Maina’s jab comes after Kuria confidently promised that the swearing-in of Kindiki at Uhuru Gardens would begin at 9 a.m. without requiring entry permits. “We cannot afford a Constitutional crisis.
We cannot become another Sudan with two presidents,” Kuria had told Kenyans, urging them to attend the event early to secure entry.
However, the ceremony, intended to officially replace Rigathi Gachagua as deputy president, was thrown into disarray after the High Court issued a conservatory order suspending the swearing-in.
Justice Chacha Mwita granted the order in response to a petition filed by Gachagua’s legal team, citing significant constitutional concerns.
According to sources who spoke to NTV, the event is now likely to be rescheduled for next week, with the government expected to appeal the court’s decision.
The online reactions to the postponement were swift. One user commented, “Good question for Moses Kuria.” Another quipped, “I’m already at Uhuru Gardens; where are you guys?”
The unfolding drama highlights the tension surrounding leadership changes in government, with Kuria facing political backlash for his failed promises.
The postponed swearing-in adds a new twist to the legal and political battle between Gachagua’s team and the administration, leaving the country watching closely for the next move.
