Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has poked holes on President William Ruto’s inaugural address to the 13th Parliament.
Speaking at a presser in Nairobi, Kalonzo stated that Ruto’s statement fell short of addressing pertinent issues on the state of the country’s economy and lowering of the cost of living.
“President Ruto’s inaugural address at the 13th Parliament failed to address pertinent issues regarding the state of our economy and the national standard of living,” he said.
The Wiper party supremo also hit out at Ruto for his subtle attack on retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and Azimio presidential flagbearer in the just-concluded elections Raila Odinga.
Kalonzo accused the President of failing to fulfill his first promise to Kenyans upon ascendancy to power. He stated that Ruto vowed to lower the cost of fuel and unga immediately he assumed office.
“The first campaign promise by the Ruto administration was to the lowering of the cost of living. From day one, all costs associated with basic living have gone up. The price of unga and the cost of electricity are beyond the ordinary mwananchi’s reach,” he said.
Kalonzo warns Ruto
Kalonzo opined that the sustained attacks on the two leaders are unwarranted. He challenged the Kenya Kwanza administration to put more focus on delivering on its promises and not constant political attacks.
“The season for political campaigns has ended and the honeymoon is well and truly over. It is now time to act decisively in our various capacities to the benefit of our great people and our great nation.”
“It is now our duty to remind this administration of their campaign promises. Actions speak louder than words as they say. It can never be promises after promises after promises.
“President William Ruto became DP of this country in 2013 and the period between 2013 and 2017 will go down in history as a country when our parastatals were raided and illicit money made available for future purposes,” he added.
