Senator Malala has continued fighting a tough war against his opponents who want him barred from vying for the top seat in Kakamega. The High Court gave another landmark ruling concerning Kakamega County gubernatorial aspirant Senator Cleophas Malala. According to the court ruling made today, the Kakamega High Court has lifted the order which was put to bare Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission from declaring Kakamega County senator Cleophas Malala as a verified gubernatorial aspirant on the ANC party ticket.
As this happens, this latest ruling comes as a sign of relief for Cleophas Malala who is looking to succeed Kakamega County Governor Hon Wycliffe Oparanya. If cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, Cleophas Malala is set to battle it out with ODM party aspirants for the seat of Hon Fernandes Barasa on the ballot.
This good news comes after the previously stated ruling in which the High Court had barred the IEBC from clearing Cleophas Malala from contesting. This was brought about by the pending hearing and determination of his application over the petition challenging his academic qualifications. This was after suspicion was raised that Senator Malala didn’t finish his university degree.
Senator Malala has been having a big challenge having been among DP Allied politicians who were punished over doubtable academic qualifications. Senator Malala is now likely to progress to the next level as the petition which was filed against him appears to be not yielding fruits. He will be free to challenge the man who was endorsed by Wycliffe Oparanya to take over the top seat in Kakamega.
