With less than two months till the general elections on August 9th, Amani National Congress gubernatorial candidate for Kakamega is embroiled in yet another degree scandal that could keep him out of the polls.
According to Citizen Digital, a petition has been filed with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission questioning the legality of his degree, and therefore his eligibility to run for the position of Wycliffe Oparanya’s successor.
Felix Ongadi, the petitioner, claims that the outspoken Kenya Kwanza Alliance supporter lacks a degree, and thus his initial nomination by the IEBC should be annulled because of the origin or validity of the degree and KCSE certificates he used for qualification and clearing purposes is unknown.
Malala’s nomination should be revoked, according to Ogandi, who claims Malala is unfit to run for politics. Malala claimed to have graduated from USIU University in 2011, however, reports have it that his name does not exist on the USIU graduation list. Another petition had been filed earlier, attempting to prevent senator Malala from running for the top position in Kakamega.
The IEBC later cleared him, and he has been campaigning ever since. This unexpected change of events occurs just hours after another Kenyan kwanza Ruto loyalist was sentenced to prison for falsifying his academic credentials.
Malala’s clearance petitioned
The petitioner is requesting that the respondents investigate the legitimacy of academic documents whose acquisition dates do not match the dates of supposed studies. DP Ruto’s men have continued going through tough times as plans to block them from vying for top seats in the country continue.
According to DP Ruto, the Deep State is working hard to prevent Sakaja from running for the top job so that they can install whoever they want on the Nairobi people. DP Ruto requested that the Deep State and the System leave Sakaja alone and confront him directly if they so desire. Uhuru and Raila’s team, according to DP Ruto, is working nonstop to rig the 2022 general elections in their favor. This follows the controversy over Sakaja’s alleged phony degree and claims that he did not complete his education.
