Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has dismissed Commission for University Education chairperson Professor Chacha Nyaigoti Chacha’s decision of compelling Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja to provide Team University documents throughout his study period.
According to Murkomen, the details asked by the CUE are outrageous and irrelevant since the legislator might not be having them owing to the fact that he graduated from Team University more than 6 years ago, in 2016,
“Hon. Sakaja has been asked to take the following documents to Commission For University Education; Application Letter, Letter of admission, Student ID, CAT papers and results, Exam timetable, Graduation Booklet, Receipts for the application fee, tuition fees & graduation fees, Graduation photo while wearing gown” he said.
Murkomen takes swipe at CUE Chair
He argued that even CUE chairperson Professor Chacha Nyaigoti Chacha will not provide 99 per cent of the details Sakaja asked to present on Monday, 20th June, 2022.
“If I was asked to provide the above documents, my answer would be simple: I DON’T HAVE THEM. Even Professor Chacha himself doesn’t have 99% of the above documents” he added.
Sakaja’s controversial academic credentials forged robust debate as four petitioners lodged cases with Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Disputes Resolution Committee that is chaired by Willis Otieno, seeking the commission to revoke his clearance certificate for Nairobi gubernatorial contest, over degree forgery claims.
Sakaja dismissed the case arguing that the person addressed in the complaint lodged at the Commission is not him. He added that his credentials are all valid and genuine. He presented Team University degree in Bachelor of Science in Management at IEBC for clearance.
IEBC Tribunal dismissed three cases against Sakaja after the petitioners failed to appear before the commission to defend their claims.
Sakaja has been on record publicly saying that he has never studied outside Kenya. He claimed to have graduated from The University of Nairobi in Actuarial Science course.
