Dr. William Samoei Ruto, the Deputy President and leader of the United Democratic Alliance party, which is part of the Kenya Kwanza coalition, has been dealt a major blow after a powerful United Democratic Alliance party UDA member resigned. Hon. Kimani Ngunjiri, a politician, has endorsed the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement, which is part of the Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Alliance Coalition, for the presidency.
In a video recorded by Azimio blogger Peter Mwangi Pmk, the embattled mount Kenyan politician indicated unequivocally that the top seat belongs to former Prime Minister Hon.
Raila Amolo Odinga, whereas the remaining seats, including as those for Members of County Assembly, Members of Parliament, County Women Representatives, Senatorial seats, and gubernatorial seats, are up to individuals to determine, rather than being decided by anyone.
He went on to say that inhabitants of Nakuru County should vote for individuals rather than parties and that he is not married to anyone other than his wife. He went on to say that as a public leader, he is free to meet with any leader from across the region, which is why he has been meeting with incumbent Nakuru County Governor Hon. Lee Kinyanjui.
This comes just days after he advised Nakuru County citizens to vote for Governor Lee Kinyanjui instead of Susan Kihika of the United Democratic Party. Ngunjiri accused Kihika of ruining the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party from within, citing the mishandled party primaries, in a press conference on Friday, June 3.
Even as he claimed that he will not be bullied into supporting Kihika’s gubernatorial bid, the Legislator stated that Kihika’s activities had caused numerous DP Ruto loyalists to run as independent candidates.
A lot is still expected the more we near the August elections as politicians continue betraying each other the more we near August elections.
