In a heartfelt address during a candlelight vigil held in Ruiru, Faustine Lipuku Lukale, known to many as Baba Talisha, spoke candidly about recent events that have unfolded in the wake of Brian Chira’s passing. Amidst the preparations for the funeral, Baba Talisha has been the subject of public scrutiny regarding the handling of funds raised for the ceremony.
Baba Talisha, who has been a close friend of the late Chira, reassured the community that all donations received were accounted for and would be used appropriately.
This statement comes after allegations surfaced online suggesting that funds were being misused. In a firm response, Baba Talisha stated, “The money collected is still intact. I have not, and will not, squander what we’ve gathered for Brian’s send-off.”
In an unexpected turn of events, Baba Talisha revealed that a generous well-wisher had gifted him a smartphone valued at KSh 275,000. He emphasized that this gesture was unsolicited and that he did not spend any of the funeral funds on the phone. “I didn’t even spend a shilling on this phone. I was just sent to the shop and asked to pick any phone I wanted. This phone is worth KSh 275,000,” he explained.
Furthermore, Baba Talisha vowed to contribute personal funds if necessary, to ensure that the funeral proceedings would not be hindered by financial constraints. He mentioned the KSh 850,000 donation from another TikToker, expressing his commitment to use part of it if required.
In a message of unity and forgiveness, Baba Talisha urged the community to refrain from harboring negative emotions and to cease the spread of insults and accusations. “I harbor no ill feelings towards anybody because when you hold too much to your heart, it really drains you. Let’s stop insulting each other,” he said, advocating for peace and understanding during this difficult time.
The community continues to mourn the loss of Brian Chira, and as the vigil came to a close, the focus remains on coming together to honor his memory with dignity and respect.
