Digital blogger Scophine Aoko Otieno has left her fans in suspense after posting a cryptic message on X (formerly Twitter) shortly aftee her release from police custody.

Maverick Aoko who was arrested for allegedly sharing sensitive information about Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya, including claims that Tuya is romantically involved with President William Ruto, this evening took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to post a brief but intriguing message, saying, “I’m back! Tonight I just want to sleep. I THANK and love you beyond words. Kesho. Kesho…Kesho!!!”

Additionally, Aoko’s arrest was dramatic, with masked men, believed to be police officers, taking her from her home early in the morning. She spent the weekend in police custody before being released on bail, raising concerns about freedom of expression in Kenya, particularly for those who speak out on sensitive topics.

As her followers eagerly await her next move, it’s evident that Maverick Aoko isn’t backing down. The curiosity surrounding her future actions is palpable.

Also, it has emerged that Milimani Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi granted Aoko an alternative personal bond of Sh200,000, as the prosecution failed to provide sufficient reasons to deny her bail before trial.

Aoko, a controversial figure on X, denied all charges related to allegations of posting malicious and false information about a woman named Beth Wambui Mbuitu on her social media platform.

The charges, brought under Section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act of 2018, carry severe penalties, including a fine of up to Sh5 million, a 10-year prison sentence, or both, if found guilty.

Aoko’s arrest followed a search warrant issued by the court on August 7, 2024, at the request of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
