The Kenya Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA – Kenya, has recognized Base Yetu as a leading and supportive partner in its causes.

The recognition of Base Yetu, alongside other notable organizations, was posted on FIDA-Kenya’s social media handles in appreciation for their continued support, and most recently, their support toward Kenya’s first Anti-GBV Charity Golf Tournament whose goal was to promote the fight against GBV in Kenya as well as mark the International Day of the Girl Child.

The FIDA-Kenya golf tournament was held on October 14, 2022 at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club and also successfully raised funds to help in the fight against gender-based violence in the country. Chief Justice Martha Koome was the chief guest at the event.

FIDA has earned a niche for itself as an outstanding women-led organization dedicated to fighting for the rights of women in the country and is the first-choice organization for women in seeking legal redress, especially in gender-related matters. It credits its supportive partners for its successes in standing out as a reliable voice for the girl child.

Base Yetu on its part, is an open membership organization that seeks to empower its members with benefits that range from rewarding sports competitions, job fairs, access to credit facilities as well as the provision of insurance-like cover for its members in case of unforeseen eventualities like accidents or death.

Fully aware that the need for empowerment runs across different spheres of life, Base Yetu is taking the lead in achieving gender parity in sports through its tournaments that emphasize equal gender participation and has special awards for female participants in sports considered male-dominated like pool games.
