According to the ICC prosecution team, Gicheru offered bribes and other inducements to the witnesses, who in returned changed, recanted their innitial statements or withdrew as witnesses for the prosecution team.
As a result of his alleged roles in witnesses interference, the late Gicheru was up for arrest following a 2015 warrant by the ICC before he surrendered himself to the same court on November 2nd, 2022 for the case in which he pleaded not guilty.
The late lawyer was waiting for the ICC verdict following the completion of presentation by the office of the prosecution on March 29th, 2022.
