Acclaimed lawyer Donald Kipkorir, who also doubles up as a ranking member of Raila Odinga’s legal team, has called for the immediate resignation of Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and other top-ranking members of the Raila Odinga Campaign Secretariat.
Kipkorir wants Elizabeth Meyo( Chief Executive of Raila Odinga’s Campaign Team), IT expert George Njoroge ( who was tasked with overseeing IT in Raila’s Presidential campaign), Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, and Saitabao Ole Kanchory (Raila’s Chief Agent in the just concluded presidential elections) axed from the ODM leader’s campaign team.
The flamboyant lawyer did not cite the grounds for the dismissal of the high-ranking members of Odinga’s campaign team.
He however assured Azimio adherents that they will rebuild a fresh campaign secretariat constituted of people he termed as honest and true soldiers.
“Before Monday, September 5, the following have to resign from being part of Baba’s Campaign Team: Elizabeth Meyo, George Njoroge, Junet Mohammed and Saitabao Ole Kanchory. We will rebuild Baba’s Campaign Secretariat afresh & with true & honest soldiers,” he tweeted.
Since the declaration of Deputy President William Ruto as the president-elect, top leaders within the Raila-led Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party have traded accusations and counter-accusations over alleged incompetence during the presidential contest.
Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and Former Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho were at the centre of the blame game, with top Azimio influencers accusing them of allegedly misappropriating funds meant to procure polling station agents.
The two leaders remain tight-lipped on the matter, with Junet taking an unprecedented social media break. Ex-county head Hassan Joho however made a public appearance and social media comeback during the Mombasa gubernatorial elections, where he spearheaded the Azimio team that delivered Governor-elect Abdulswamad Nassir’s win.
Junet was also spotted in the company of ex-Kieni MP Kanini Kega, ODM leader Raila Odinga and ex-Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui at an undisclosed location. The vocal lawmaker is yet to make a public statement after Raila’s loss.
