COTU Secretary General Dr. Francis Atwoli has raised concerns about what he describes as a well-coordinated plot aimed at destabilizing the government by targeting key figures such as Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, National Intelligence Service (NIS) boss Noordin Haji, and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Renson Ingonga.
Speaking on January 17, as reported by KTN News during their 7 p.m. news bulletin, Dr. Atwoli issued a stern warning to Members of Parliament, urging them to remain vigilant and to protect the offices of the DPP, NIS, and Interior.
He emphasized that a political group seems determined to discredit these offices as part of a larger strategy to undermine the current administration.
Dr. Atwoli further highlighted the importance of safeguarding these institutions, stressing that attempts to delegitimize their operations could have far-reaching consequences for the stability of the nation.
He praised the government’s efforts so far, pointing out that it has achieved significant milestones.
Supporting this, DPP Noordin Haji has also defended his decision to withdraw charges in some high-profile cases, reiterating that his office operates with integrity and in line with the law.
In addition to these remarks, Dr. Atwoli dismissed allegations that the government, led by President William Ruto, has been involved in abductions.
He argued that such claims are unfounded, asserting that a government as popular as Ruto’s would not engage in such activities.
Dr. Atwoli’s statements come in the wake of former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s recent address to Generation Z, encouraging them to stand up and defend their future.
This call for civic awareness and involvement underscores the importance of maintaining vigilance in protecting democratic institutions and ensuring accountability.
